LOTAR International Workshop in Charleston, SC, USA
From September 26-28, more than 30 attendees of the LOTAR International project group met for their third work-shop 2011 in conjunction with the PDES, Inc. Fall Offsite Meeting in Charleston.
One of the main accomplishments was the launch of the new “Electric Harness” workgroup within the LOTAR project. Its goal is to develop the LOTAR standard for this domain, which is of importance to many member companies as well as to outside companies which have expressed an interest in becoming LOTAR members to support this.
The “3D CAD with PMI” working group is currently preparing the publication of the EN/NAS 9300-120v1 part, which de-fines the use of PMI as Polyline Presentation for the purpose of long-term archiving and retrieval. This marks a major milestone for this team.
In the “PDM” realm, a specification comparable to the Recommended Practices known from the CAx-IF is being devel-oped for the validation of product structures. In addition, the harmonization efforts between AP239 and AP242 are being supported.
The “Composites” team was able to present first pilot test results for the cross-system transfer of a complex composite part based on AP242, and currently supports the develop-ment of the data model for 3D tessellated geometry within AP242.
The next LOTAR International workshop will take place December 6-8, 2011, at PROSTEP in Darmstadt.
